About MDTS
All of our teachers must read and agree with our Statement of Faith, Our Beliefs, and Our Vision and Mission. These are foundational to who we are and how we do our jobs. If you have any reservations about these statements or cannot sign them, MDTS would not be a good fit for you.
No previous tutor experience is needed. However, we only hire tutors who absolutely enjoy children and have a strong desire to serve them and their parents is the essential ingredient. In addition, your testimony will be asked in the interview and a church reference is required before we offer you a job with Mrs. Dowd's Teaching Service. After that, we wiill provide curriculum and train you.
Hours are flexible, anywhere from 2-12 hours per week, usually in the afternoon or early evening. We have openings for individual tutoring situations in the public libraries and in larger group settings. The student-teacher ratio remains 1:2 or 1:3 in either situation. If we work in an academic program, the ratio could go to 1:5, a small group setting.
