What is Faith-Based Tutoring?
Mrs. Dowd's Teaching Service is a faith-based service organization. Our commitment to Jesus Christ governs our personal lives and our company procedures.
We do not teach religion but, visibly and invisibly, our faith is interlaced in our lives. All of our tutoring is child-centered and fashioned to support students, their families, and their schools. In our private teaching sessions, our Family Division, parents may prefer that we teach literature, history, and government from a Biblical world view. In our public tutoring for Supplementary Education Services (SES), we use secular curriculum and our faith is only visible in our smiles.
A common concern about faith-based tutoring providers is whether or not they provide a valid, professional supplemental educational service to the secular community. When tax dollars for tutoring are diverted to faith-based organizations, do public schools, and most importantly, our children, still receive quality service?
Mrs. Dowd's Teaching Service knows that faith-based tutoring does thrive in any setting using secular or faith-based materials, with proven success. Our primary concern and joy is our students and we gladly teach them wherever we may.
Our Statement of Faith
- We are Christian
- We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, inerrant, authoritative Word of God
- We believe that there is one God, Creator of heaven and earth, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life
- We believe in salvation by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ and we proclaim Him Lord and Savior
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation
- We affirm the Church as the body of Christ established for worship, witness, mutual edification, and for equipping the saints for His service
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
